Top 5 Tools for Social Marketing

top social marketing tools It seems that social marketing is quickly replacing, or at best, supplementing traditional marketing approaches these days.  I make use of quite a few social marketing angles, but realized I typically stick to 5 tools on a regular basis.

Before you even think that social marketing is the silver bullet in your marketing arsenal, you must first have something “sociable” (not the crackers, although they are yummy) to spread…like a virus, but in a good way.  If you don’t then chances are that social marketing won’t work for you.

So here they are, my top 5 social marketing tools for almost every post I make to the blog:

1) Windows Live Writer- The absolute best blog posting application, surprisingly from Microsoft.  This client allows me to not only post to WordPress blogs, but it will also ping to my super super list of ping servers.  Windows live writer allows you to add/edit/adjust images (which will automatically ftp them the your server) and make use of a ton of third-party pluggins such as suggested images, embed media and other cool things.

2) Pingoat – One of my go-to sites to ping servers that I may have not added to my Windows Live Writer config.  I kind of make it a habit of that when I post something to immediately go over to Pingoat and submit my site.

3) StumbleUpon – I actually use this site to “stumble upon” some cool websites.  It is nice to build up a network of “friends” and let them know about your latest post.  I’ve seen great results with StumbleUpon and they seem to be less “cliquey” than Digg.

4) Feedburner – A great site to manage your rss feeds and makes it easier for other to consume them.  If you don’t think that rss feeds are important, then well, you can go ask Google why they thought it was important enough to incorporate Adsense with it.

5) Twitter – Some think of Twitter as just a place to talk about where you are hanging out, but realistically you have to think of it as a tool to announce socially what you are up to!  Made a change to your website? Wanted to review a new product?  Just a few things to think about for using Twitter as a social marketing tool.

Now, of course you may have a few more items (as do I) but I figured a top 5 post would look better than a top 6 or top 9 social marketing tools post. Seriously, these are the main tools that I use regularly.

Kanye West Interrupts Patrick Swayze’s Funeral

kayne-patrick-swayze-funeral Well, not actually, but I find it interesting that my Adsense earnings have been going up because of this latest search trend of Kanye West and the Patrick Swayze funeral interruption spoof.

You see, years ago, as a joke, I started a blog of pure satire about Kanye West running for President in 2008.  It is funny to see that my first post was from 2005.  I think this was officially my first blog post ever. The great thing about Blogger is that you can add your Google Adsense code…and with that I always use channels to see where my Adsense revenue is coming from, and lately the revenue is coming from my Kanye West for president blog.

How funny that 4 years later the President of The United States would call Kanye a bad name :)

Super-High Adsense CTR WordPress Theme

screenshot I’ve recently released my super-high Adsense CTR theme called Super Sense.  This is the same theme I use at EmailFriends.com.  Yes, it is super ugly, but it does the trick.  You will be surprised at how high your CTR will jump with this theme.

Black Hat Article Generation Secrets

blackhat-seo It is no secret to many "black hat" SEO folks that one of their favored approaches to building site content is by using automatic article generation. Please allow me to explain, for those of you who are not familiar with this.

The trick is to generate lots of unique content that either contains Adsense ads or even pages that point to landing pages with affiliate links.

You can grab an article by rss aggregator or "stealing" something from one of the many ezine publising sites such as Ezinearticles.com. Heck, people have been stealing my submission for quite some time!

The next thing to do is spin the article in some way to generate multiple version of the copy using synonyms and a web tool such as JetSpinner (my affiliate link if you are interested).  The tool is free, but they charge you if you want to "promote" your articles.

The concept is simple, take a word (or phrase) you would  like to switch up and replace it with synonyms, separated by bars and surrounded by curly braces.  For instance, if you want the article to replace the word Apple with three variations of apple, you could do this:

  • I would like a juicy red {fuji|honeycrisp|Mcintosh} for lunch.

You can then assign tell JetSpinner to create 3 variations of this sentence, effectively giving you:

  • I would like a juicy red fuji for lunch.
  • I would like a juicy red honeycrisp for lunch.
  • I would like a juicy red Mcintosh for lunch.

However the power in the spinning is that you can replace phrases with other phrases in multiple sections:

  • I {would like|always want|always hope for} a {juicy|crispy|sweet but tart} {fuji|honeycrisp|Mcintosh} apple for {lunch| a lunchtime snack|brunch}.

The spinner works recursively, so you can even have curly braces within curly braces to really mix things up! You need to understand factorials (I stink at math, so I’m not going to explain it) in order to see how many possible variations of this sentence can be generated…all for the sake of creating non-duplicate SPAM copy for content websites.

Some black hatters may even use some kind of Markov Generator to really mix things up.  Markov sequences can be used to scramble source text which is really cool for swapping sentences in multiple paragraphs.  This guy has a Markov Generator for you to play with.

To complete the process: Post the thousands of newly created variations of the same article for others to pick up.  This can be done by using the multiple article submission sites out there.

3 Reasons Why Adsense Is Essential For Content Sites

To know why Adsense is essential for your content sites is to know first how this works.

The concept is really simple, if you think about it. The publisher or the webmaster inserts a java script into a certain website. Each time the page is accessed, the java script will pull advertisements from the Adsense program. The ads that are targeted should therefore be related to the content that is contained on the web page serving the ad. If a visitor clicks on an advertisement, the webmaster serving the ad earns a portion of the money that the advertiser is paying the search engine for the click.

The search engine is the one handling all the tracking and payments, providing an easy way for webmasters to display content-sensitive and targeted ads without having the hassle to solicit advertisers, collect funds, monitor the clicks and statistics which could be a time-consuming task in itself. It seems that there is never a shortage of advertisers in the program from which the search engine pulls the Adsense ads. Also webmasters are less concerned by the lack of information search engines are providing and are more focused in making cash from these search engines.

The first reason why Adsense is essential for content sites is because it already has come a long way in understanding the needs of publishers and webmasters. Together with its continuous progression is the appearance of more advanced system that allows full ad customization. Webmasters are given the chance to choose from many different types of text ad formats to better complement their website and fit their webpage layout.

The different formatting enables the site owners the possibility of more click through from visitors who may or may not be aware of what they are clicking on. It can also appeal to the people visiting thus make them take that next step of looking up what it is all about. This way the people behind the Adsense will get their content read and making profit in the process.

The second reason is the ability of the Adsense publishers to track not only how their sites are progressing but also the earnings based on the webmaster-defined channels. The recent improvements in the search engines gives webmasters the capability to monitor how their ads are performing using customizable reports that has the capacity to detail page impressions, clicks and click-through rates. Webmasters and publishers can now track specific ad formats, colors and pages within a website. Trends are also easily spotted.

With the real-time reporting at hand, the effectiveness of the changes made will be assessed quickly. There would be time to sort out the contents that people are making the most clicks on. The ever-changing demands would be met while generating cash for the webmasters and publishers. The more flexible tools are also allowing webmasters to group web pages by URL, domain, ad type or category, which will provide them some accurate insight on which pages, ads and domains are performing best.

The last and final reason is that the advertisers have realized the benefits associated having their ads served on targeted websites. Thus increasing the possibility that a prospective web surfer will have an interest in their product and services. All because of the content and its constant maintenance. As opposed to those who are no using Adsense in their sites, they are given the option of having other people do their content for them, giving them the benefit of having successful and money-generating web sites.

Adsense is all about targeted content, the more targeted your content is, the more target the search engines’ ads will be. There are some web masters and publishers who are focused more on their site contents and how best to maintain them rather than the cash that the ads will generate for them. This is the part where the effectiveness is working its best.

There was a time when people were not yet aware of the money to be achieved from advertisements. The cash generated only came into existence when the webmasters and publishers realized how they can make Adsense be that generator. In those days, the content were the most important factors that is taken quite seriously. It still is. With the allure of money, of course.
